Today I finally had the chance to eat at one of the most renown Michelin starred restaurants in Viareggio: Da Romano, and I truly had an outstanding experience. The ambiance was intimate but sophisticated with great attention to details. My lunch started with The sea amberjack escalope that had a such a fresh and cool taste that felt like it had just come out of The Mediterranean Sea. The anchovy stuffed zucchini blossom were quite a pleasant surprise, but my favorite was for sure the small squids stuffed with assorted vegetables and crustaceans. I didn’t even think that such small squids could be stuffed. What a work of art! As I wanted to try both the meat and the sea elements, I had as a main course, the homemade ravioli stuffed with roasted pork that literally melted in my mouth…and then I was in food heaven! I continued with the codfish and puttanesca sauce with capers and anchovies that almost reminded me of Sicily and it’s flavors. My experience ended with some petit fours and the amazing Dessert Viareggio 3.0 which was made up of a wonderful sponge cake cream, vanilla, crunchy chocolate, rum flavored custard, wrapped in an opulent edible gold leaf. Read moreAmazing Michelin-starred restaurant near Forte Dei Marmi. This is a truly special place that offers a real gourmet experience. Even though it has one Michelin star, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming — no snobbery at all. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The food is not only delicious but also generous in portion size, which is rare for a Michelin spot.
The highlight for me was the Panzella salad with mackerel instead of bread crumbs — full of flavor . Beautifully balanced risotto with red prawns and lemon touch ,which was simply unforgettable. Stuffed calamari made my kids thrilled .Tables are spaced out well, so you don’t feel crowded, and street parking nearby is usually possible.
Highly recommended for a special occasion or just when you want to treat yourself to something truly...
Read moreThe welcoming was indifferent. Inside the restaurant it was so cold that we were obliged to eat with our coats on, seemed as the air-condition was on, as we mentioned about it, the owner just ignored it saying: well untill yesterday it was hot! The glasses were dirty, and the attention from the waiters and the owner was minimal, even if the restaurant was almost empty. Fish Appetizer: too salty and oily, doesn't earn a star! Second course: fish without no taste at all..... Happily the wine was fantastic as always: Jermann doesn't let you down, it was our choice! Absolutely too expensive of what you get, if it's a one star Michelin, the dishes should be worth the star! There are so many good places with delicious food,...
