Great service. Very welcoming and gentile staff. Good and sturdy food. Some of the antipasti were a bit plentyful on the plate though. All courses were crammed with fresh produce, lovely smells and good texture. Well worth your money.

Alpino is a great place to hang out with the locals and enjoy great coffee and pastries. Morning and night, the place is full of visitors and locals. A great way to blend in and feel like a local.

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in Italy. Barga itself is very picturesque and has some excellent restaurants and is very vibrant during the busy season with Different festivals going on all the time. Compared to the nearby tourist trap of Pisa, the food is excellent and much more value for money. ||The Alpino offers a really warm welcome from the staff, the manager speaks English very well. The rooms are decorated traditionally but the bathrooms are completely modern and finished to a high standard with air conditioning - which is vital for pasty Northern Europeans like us!||The breakfast is very traditional Italian - even including a slice of cake! The restaurant on the first floor is very good and offers beautiful food at decent prices. ||There is a popular cafe downstairs where all the locals seem to like to meet and drink coffee. It is a very vibrant spot with lots of local people bustling about and meeting up, it's enjoyable just grabbing a drink and people watching. ||The Alpino is at the centre of the newer part of Barga but is a two minute walk to the start of the old town with its steep, winding lanes. The lanes are steep but fortunately there seems to be a cafe, bar or restaurant every so often to recover at as you make your way ever upwards to the Duomo (cathedral) with its truly stunning views.||There is no pool at the Alpino but you can hire a lounger at the local open-air communal pool for 5 euros for the whole day. The pool has quite a picturesque back drop and has a cafe onsite and even offers Aqua aerobic and underwater spin classes(it is not open all year round only from about May to early September)!||All in all, the Alpino is the perfect place to stay to visit this...
