My family and I arrived at the Trattoria expecting a pleasant barbecue lunch, no more, no less. But, rather unexpectedly, we were greeted as though we were long lost friends. Our hostess walked us through the menu describing each dish. For our appetisers we elected for bruschetta. My son and husband agreed to take on the Tomahawk and I opted for what I thought was to be a small ish steak with chips and oven roasted potatoes on the side.
The bruschetta was an absolute delight, so fresh and clean with just a few ingredients but done so very well. As we had remarked upon the extraordinarily large garlic bulbs decorating the tables, we were treated to some homemade tomato and garlic paste on warmed crusty bread. One might think the garlic would steal the show but it was made with such care that it took centre stage alongside the beautifully ripe tomatoes.
We had selected a wine but our host suggested another that would be complimentary to ours main course and he was absolutely spot on. It was utterly delicious. As you can see from our photos, the main courses were something to behold. Coming on a heated platter and still burning from the lava stones on which they were cooked, our steaks arrived at the table with a flourish. I’m partial to very rare meat and it did not disappoint. I can honestly say that all three of us agreed the heat was easily the best we’d ever had.
And whilst the food was utterly sublime, it was, for me, the hosts passion that stole the show. I have never met someone so genuinely in love with his art, so proud and so in love with the produce that he is sharing with you. Our hosts were impeccable, both professional and friendly but above all, entirely engaged with us to ensure we had the best experience possible. It os with a heavy heart that we had to depart, but I can assure you, we will be back very soon. An absolute gem and not to be missed. Thank you so much for a truly...
Read moreWhile visiting Tuscany for a wedding, I had the chance to stop by Trattoria Grill House—and it was one of the most memorable meals of my trip. I was staying at an Airbnb nearby and had heard great things about this spot from both locals and fellow travelers.
I came in solo and was seated quickly. The place had a steady flow of locals coming and going, which told me I was in the right spot. I ordered the classic carbonara, a glass of house wine, and a side of grilled vegetables. Every bite was authentic and full of flavor. Toward the end of my meal, I wrapped things up with a nice coffee, which hit the spot.
The service was warm and welcoming. My waitress spoke enough English that we could comfortably chat, which I really appreciated while traveling. Partway through my meal, the owner came out to greet tables and personally checked in on me. When I mentioned that I also own a business back in the U.S., we shared a quick conversation about passion and what it takes to run something meaningful. That moment stood out.
Before I left, he brought over a complimentary shot of their house liquor—a thoughtful and generous gesture that made the experience even more personal. The portions were just right, the pricing was very reasonable, and the atmosphere had that warm, authentic Italian charm you hope for when traveling through Tuscany.
Overall, it was an amazing experience. I truly wish this place many more years of success and prosperity, and if I ever find myself back in the area, I’ll be dining here again...
Read moreTaste, tradition, good mood. These are the three words that would characterize a unique experience in Tuscany.
The fresh preparations impeccably cooked in the restaurant's kitchen reveal the chef's experience, the best quality ingredients from the region and the perfect taste of some dishes that you cannot find in the neighborhood. We ate different dishes from Italian cuisine, but with local specifics, for lunch and dinner, entree and main course. The wine from Tuscany is carefully selected according to the food served (I recommend Nobile de Montepulciano), and the perfect host who is always among the consumers, is a perfectionist in explaining the origin and qualities of the wine, but also about the beef dishes, which I recommend (florentini and t-bone). The music, jazz-blues, integrates a perfect evening that ends with a light dessert and an Italian digestif or a lemon sorbeto. One cannot avoid such a location that perfectly completes a vacation in Tuscany. I recommend especially those from outside Italy to try such a restaurant for taste, tradition, good mood. A family business that should be congratulated and supported for its dedication and respect...
