My favourite restaurant in this part of sicily. If you are travelling through this little sleepy fishing town, don’t miss this family owned restaurant under any circumstances.. trust me! My family has been coming here for 30+ years and the quality of the food has never changed! It is truly exceptional family style sicilian food. I’ve probably tried the whole menu at this point but let me give you some dishes that are my personal favourites. ⁃ pasta al nero di sepie is phenomenal (ask for busiate pasta type which is special from this region) ⁃ pasta alla marinara (seafood pasta) is super tasty zuppa di cozze (black mussels) in the tastiest garlicky tomato sauce that you will soak up with bread until the end ⁃ fish couscous is always amazing and fresh ⁃ calamari fritti are fried to a perfect crisp and the batter is light and perfectly seasoned ⁃ pasta trapanese (traditional pasta sauce from this area) is absolutely worth a try but you must like garlic ⁃ go to the seafood counter for daily caught fresh fish and ask the waiter to prepare it “all’aqua di mare” where the fish is so tender and served with tasty potatoes and a perfectly complementary sauce. The fish will be filleted table side.
What ever you order, you can’t go wrong; everything is truly phenomenal! Remember you can also ask for “mezza portione” (half portion) for the pastas so you leave room for many other dishes to try. If you read this far just go enjoy a nice lunch or dinner here, you won’t be...
Read moreDespite traveling throughout Europe, and particularly Italy, for years, I have never written a review for anything. I hesitated on this one until after we made our reservations for the Summer. We have been coming to this little Sicilian fishing village, this hotel and its superb restaurant for 10 years and usually several times in the year. I have stayed at many of the hotels and eaten at almost all the restaurants in the Trapani, Marsala, Erice area and just prefer this one. The rooms are large, many with a view of the sea, is super clean, and the restaurant is simply my favorite. Tell them how you want your fish prepared, they will offer up choices caught fresh that day and suggest a perfect Sicilian wine to match. It is a very good base from which to travel to see what interests you -- from beaches to historical sites to shopping. My only concern is that too many others will discover this...
Read moreThe town of Bonagia is not your upscale beach resort but rather a sleepy fishing town. The Saverino is right on the water across from the harbor. It is modern with some rooms in the front having a water view. We quite liked it as it was clean and quite. The staff was responsive to a few minor issues and friendly but with limited English. They have free parking on premises. Breakfast is extra in their affiliated restaurant and a good value. There are limited breakfast choices other than the restaurant.||||The restaurant is quite good and reasonable for dinner. The fish and seafood is very fresh and service is good.||||It's a short drive to local beaches. This town isn't for everyone but if you want to be close to Erice and Trapini in a quite relaxed atmosphere; it...
