Ristorante Le Blason — Restaurant in Valtournenche

I concur with all the recent reviews. We visited this week after our Guesthouse recommended this place. Firstly, this place is not open until 7pm, (and not round the clock like google suggests). We were seated at 7pm and our order was taken reasonably quickly as we were one of the first to be seated. First course and drinks arrived within a reasonable timeframe. However, by 7.30pm the restaurant became very busy, and it went downhill from there. Our table was almost forgotten about, we had to remind them of our main courses, and we nearly skipped dessert because I had to ask 3 people 6 times. The 4 staff looked stressed and flustered as they tried their best to run around the whole restaurant. I had to ask 3 times for my bill. Eventually I had to walk up tot the counter to force them to accept my money before I headed out the door. Felt sorry for some of the people arriving at 7.30pm / 8pm as they sat for a while, waiting to have their drinks and food order taken. If this was or used to be good, it is no longer. This is a tourist trap through and through: Staff was unfriendly, no hello, no "how are you?". Just a stern "water? still or sparkling?"

food was not amazing. Risotto was undercooked and a small portion (even if it was a primi, 20€ for 3 tablespoons of undercooked tasteless risotto is not good). The venison stew with polenta was a small portion too. It seems like they force you to pay extra for a side-dish just so they can earn some money.

They tried overcharging us on wine (9€ extra) and they have no housewine. Prices for bottles start at €29, way too much for a local wine.

We tried to book at 7:30, the answer was NO, either 7 or 8.

It's clear the waiters don't want to work here, or serve the food. They were flustered and sighing on each other.

We had to find a snack somewhere to have the idea of being full.

If you're looking for a place with good food, OK portions and nice service ... go...

Feel a bit uncomfortable about writing this review, but after careful considerations I think I must, as I don’t want others to feel this uncomfortable.

We are a family of 4 2 adults and 2 teenage girls We booked and reserved a table with full confirmation We showed up at the reserved time We were told to come back 10 minutes after as no tables were free We came back and waited for another 15 minutes The waiter looked up and down at us and told us arrogantly that no tables were free - We saw guests from multiple tables wrapping up and preparing to leave, but still the waiter did not address us We left the place in a sorrow mood. Not only was our planned evening ruined, but on a more worrisome note, we left the place with a bad taste not knowing if the waiter turned us away due to our ethnicity or due to our teenage girls.

If you want your evening ruined - please book a table at...
