Lo Barbaboque Ristrò — Restaurant in Valtournenche

We had a lovely time at Lo Barbaboque Ristrò, a very warm and welcoming, beautiful, homey little restaurant. There was only 1 server but somehow he went over the menu in depth with every table and never kept us waiting for too long. We had a truly divine cheese and meat plate to start with local fontina cheese among many other delicious bites, and then 2 of us had the tagliatelle and 1 had the polenta with meat stew. All of it was phenomenal and very filling. The 4th one of us is vegan, and the server went above and beyond to bring her a delicious, wholesome, well-rounded vegan meal with roasted and seasoned potatoes, fennel, spinach, plus a delicious salad with microgreens and fresh tomatoes. Even the non-vegans at the table all wanted a bite!! The drinks were fabulous too. I especially loved the light red wine that I tried, but the guys had some delicious and flavorful beers. I wish we had stayed longer so I could try everything else...

This place has got a lot of potential. The staff were amazing and it had a large choice of wines.

There is however very limited choice of food and little for vegetarians (there were two options for veggies and one they didn’t have on that evening) but the main issue was the portion sizes which were tiny. We came away extremely hungry after our meal which wasn’t ideal after a full day of Skiing

Also, there is no wine list. You just had to ask the waiter for the wine you wanted without having a clue how much it costs.

Hopefully things will improve as it seems a really nice restaurant but poor value for money and...
