Trattoria da Peppe — Restaurant in Vasto

My family and I, plus a couple of friends, have been at the "Trattoria da Peppe" for dinner. We booked in advance because we were told the place is always fully booked. Now we know why! Food is authentic and yummy, and Peppe and his wife Maria do a great job. with kindness and professionalism. On top of that, eating in the historical centre of Vasto is a plus.

Here's the experience in short:

Atmosphere & Place 7: The "Trattoria da Peppe" is a typical Italian trattoria. Do not expect to find a fancy interior design or posh presentation with small portions. In a nutshell, this is an unpretentious spot. The real boost is that everything is simple, well-curated and delicious.

Menu 7: Tradition is the keyword here. The owners know how to keep it alive and kicking by using fresh ingredients and preparing all the recipes with the home style. The cold cuts are delicious, and the hot appetiser is well prepared. We saved some room for trying all the meat-based plates. First and foremost, the arrosticini. They are the Abruzzo must-have.

Service 7: the lady who was serving us was the only person looking after all the tables. She was fast, precise and efficient. Just incredible. On top of that, she could also serve the children before the adults. If you are a parent, you know what I am talking about, don't you?

We have experienced dinner at this restaurant and i have to say i was expecting more after reading the reviews.The food was just ordinary, not great, not bad. The fix menu doesnt help, they have requested to order the same menu for my kids(they dont have kids menu)and we ended up in ordering more food that we could eat all togheter.A waste of food as the 4 of us could not eat everything...The concept is interesting but its more a story than a culinary experience.We have definitly ate better in other restaurants in Vasto.Otherwise, the atmosphere is really nice, an italian restaurant with tables outside, on the street.The waiters...

Siamo partiti con i migliori presupposti, vedendo così tante belle recensioni...

Non é stata un'esperienza da consigliare, partendo dalla prenotazione: "ma ci saranno anche gli arrosticini?", "certo"... Spoiler: c'erano, ma sono a parte e costano 15 euro a porzione 😅

Appena arrivati ci hanno accolto i camerieri in maniera abbastanza casuale e distratta, ma forse perché era sabato?! Affianco a noi, una coppia del nord; questi iniziano a litigare fra di loro per la qualità di quanto stanno mangiando, rispondono in maniera piccata al cameriere e continuano l'esperienza. Incuriositi, più che preoccupati della cosa, continuiamo.

Per provare un po' tutto, scegliamo io menu con primo e la mia ragazza menu con carne. Totale 35 a testa.

L'antipasto, aimé un pochino ridotto, ma comunque buono. Subito dopo aver ricevuto l'antipasto, una delle cameriere inizia a chiedere, in maniera non del tutto cortese, ad ogni tavolo (anche quelli già serviti da tempo), il nominativo della prenotazione. Che dire... Forse era meglio chiedere prima di far sedere le persone, nonché servirle.

Segue il primo: pasta al sugo, cotta in modo non omogeneo. Devo dire, decisamente non una pasta da trattoria o ristorante. Infine, apoteosi: piatta di carne, con 3 fettine in croce, insalatina e patate. Stendiamo jn velo pietoso per la carne e non parliamo nemmeno dell'insalata e delle patate che più che il forno, hanno conoscenza del piatto in cui saranno rimaste almeno 2 giorni.

Non contenti, ci spingiamo nel chiedere se fosse previsto altro. Ci hanno quindi portato una Macedonia, senza lode né infamia.

In sintesi, site turisti? Italiani? Siete abituati ad una buona cucina? Evitate! 35 euro é veramente tanto per una cena del genere, considerano una qualità generale assolutamente non...
