Al Calesse — Restaurant in Venice

Let's start from the beginning. Not welcoming at all, of course they greeted, but it was very forceful. Interior design was nice though. Waited a good 20 minutes to get served, couldn't get anyone's attention.

Then it got worse, the lasagne I ordered was cold on one side, clearly microwaved, the only 'cooked' thing were the chips/fries. My girlfriend's 'spaghetti bolognese' was actually penne, not the thin type spaghetti.

Overall the service and food was terrible. It's a shame really because I don't tend to leave reviews but this left a sour taste in my mouth. We all go to restaurants to eat, sometimes the food isn't up to scratch, but the service is amazing. This time, the both was REALLY below par. If you're a tourist in this area, please avoid. I guess the locals have to settle for this because there aren't other...

Absolutely the best food of all our holiday in Venice and Verona with good value for money, and wonderful friendly service. Buzzing and gorgeous little restaurant which could sit two to three large Italian families quite comfortably with smaller tables around for walk-in groups and the radio playing in the background which gives a great atmosphere to chat and enjoy the food.

We both ordered tagliatelle with zucchini and shrimp with white sauce and parmaham and a shared numero 3 salad (with baby onions, prosciutto, green olive, artichokes and arigola mix) and this wonderful rich jug of red merlot between us, which we topped up with sprite. Fab quality wine and fantastic pasta, just wish we had found this place sooner!

We were staying in Jolly camping just down the road and ended up eating here most nights after looking round all the other restaurants in the area. Including the onsite restaurant at Jolly’s camping. Firstly the staff are friendly, energetic and helpful even though there were only two of them on the floor and it got very busy. There menu is largely pizza and pasta based but there are chicken and beef dish’s as well and the food quality is excellent. There were mostly locals eating there which is always a good sigh and the atmosphere was such.
