La Dispensa del Forte — Restaurant in Venice

I'll preface this by saying I'm not rich but I love food. I spend a lot of my life looking for great meals at fair prices. In the past few years I've been lucky to travel Italy quite a lot, and eaten at fancy weddings, famous restaurants, and family houses.

The tagliatelle with chanterelles was the best plate of pasta I've ever had. Ever. The two glasses of white wine were a perfect pairing. The little amuse bouche of ricotta and tomato was—frankly—weirdly delicious.

I am in Mestre because of a cancelled flight at the end of a wallet-draining holiday, so I didn't really have the appetite or budget for more courses. But what I had blew me away, and melted all the stress off me. Wish I could have had more.

The atmosphere was also beautifully relaxed and friendly, with family groups celebrating special occasions scattered among lonely weirdos like myself. Not all the staff spoke English but they all did everything they could to make me feel at home. An absolutely perfect lunch, for the price of a greasy takeaway meal...

We discovered this restaurant on our the last day in Venice. Unbelievable prices which you can’t compare with other restaurants! This place has a quite small menu of traditional dishes, plus they do the set menu (first course which is pasta and second course- steak or omelet) all 2 course meals are €11.5!!! 2 adults meal with a 2 medium glasses of beer was just €29! Amazing! By the way food was really good too. They have many seating inside and outside. If you will be eating outside you will have a nice company of cats. As well you can buy organic vegetables and fruits. Definitely I recommend this place if you wish to escape...

Siamo andati a pranzo a La Dispensa del Forte, in un tranquillo infrasettimanale di luglio. Un orario perfetto per apprezzare la location, che a mio parere resta il vero punto forte: tavoli all’aperto, atmosfera rilassata, nessuna calca. Un luogo dove si può davvero godere del proprio tempo.

Molto apprezzata l’attenzione ai più piccoli: carta e colori al tavolo, un gesto semplice ma intelligente che aiuta a rendere il pasto più disteso anche per i genitori.

Il pranzo si apre con una mousse rosa servita come benvenuto. Un piccolo omaggio, piacevole, che dà il via al pasto con una nota gentile.

Il cestino del pane – rifornito da un panificio locale – è assortito e di buona qualità, con una focaccia morbidissima che spicca sulle altre tipologie.

Abbiamo poi ordinato un tagliere di salumi: buono, con una porchetta che si è fatta notare per gusto e semplicità, condita con un filo d’olio, sale e pepe.

A seguire, un primo piatto di spaghetti con gamberi, zucchine e pomodorini confit. Colorato, fresco, ben impiattato. Nel complesso corretto, anche se senza particolari guizzi.

Il servizio è stato cordiale, i tempi giusti. Il prezzo delle singole portate è leggermente sopra la media, ma in linea con l’impostazione del locale.

Non un’esperienza memorabile, ma nemmeno deludente. Ci tornerei, magari in un’altra occasione, per dare modo alla cucina di convincermi davvero.

Per chi cerca tranquillità e vuole prendersi una pausa dal ritmo cittadino, è sicuramente un angolo da tenere in considerazione. Soprattutto a pranzo, in mezzo alla settimana, quando tutto rallenta e anche un semplice piatto può avere...
