MAJER Giudecca — Restaurant in Venice

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the treatment I received at your establishment during my recent visit. As a Black African American with a doctoral degree, I did not expect to encounter such blatant discriminatory behavior, especially in 2025, when humanity should have long moved past such prejudices. During my visit, I approached an older woman, who appeared to be managing the place, to request assistance with a troubling situation involving children repeatedly knocking on my door. When I asked her to call the police, she refused. Later, when I inquired about being served wine, she also declined to serve me. What was most disturbing was the clear favoritism she exhibited by only serving customers of her ethnicity while ignoring others. This unacceptable behavior demonstrates a lack of inclusivity and respect for diversity. I want to emphasize that the food at your establishment was excellent, and one of your other servers was outstanding. His kindness and professionalism stood out, and I left him a 10-euro tip as a token of my appreciation. Unfortunately, the actions of the older woman overshadowed this positive experience and left me feeling deeply disrespected and unwelcome. Racism has no place in any part of the world, including Italy. I strongly urge you to evaluate your hiring and training practices to ensure that all your staff, regardless of age, understand and embrace the importance of treating all patrons with dignity and respect. Complete Desaster! Never Go back Place for us.

Let´s talk about MAJER Venezia @Giudecca. We went there to enjoy a nice, good and tasty dinner in 2. We came in and fist of all where „welcomed“ by not really motivated waitresses. Seems like they would have liked if we turned around and left. Anyway, we got a table for 2, so small that it could not rather accommodate for one person. But leaving this out we ordered a plate „Big verdure Mix Grill“, a „Hamburger Grill of guinea fowl meat“ and some drinks. We have been pretty surprised that the „big" vegetable plate - at the cost of 20 EUR!! was consisting of 9 pieces of veggie - 2 asparagus, 2 slices of zucchini, 1 quarter of a fennel and and 4 slices of eggplant. REALLY? 20 EUR for this? Incredible and unbelievable calling this a big plate…. Ridiculous. Then the burger. Not made of beef, but anyway came rare. Worst was that it was not only rare but still cold inside. So called the waitress, she very unwillingly took it and said she will re order one. Ask yourself what the result of this was - we got a cold rare burger again - unbelievable. What is so difficult to understand that 1. Fowl is NEVER medium or rare, 2. If the client requests it to be well done you do it well done. It all ended that we left, paid a fortune for nothing and went to a small nice trattoria a local recommended to us as we where really upset after leaving. All in all a complete disaster and def. a never go back...

I go almost every day at Majer Giudecca for a coffee (they produce their own coffee as well as pastry and more...), for fresh spremute or centrifughe detox, or for small lunch. The place is a Precious Gift on the island of Giudecca and in Venice in general. First of all the location on the fondamenta with the amazing view on the canal della Giudecca and the Zattere is heaven ! Then the warm and very friendly atmosphere makes you start the day in a good mood. The 5 stars given are more than deserved by Majer's Giudecca team and manager - they are really the DIFFERENCE that MAKES THE DIFFERENCE ! Thanks to all of them for being so great - they have understood what means "client relationship", quality and service. Of course the important part is also the products and they are top quality. At the back there is a small restaurant area where we can eat amazing food such as fine Wagyu meat from Japan cooked on their special Grill "alla brace" (if we want a special treat) or just delicious fresh salads and homemade pasta. The prices in comparaison to the quality are more than correct - also taking into consideration that there is no additional % charge as some other restaurant could apply sometimes. Also the location, the view and the cosy/trendy interior decoration are really in line with all above mentioned. The only problem of Majer Giudecca ?
