As a San Francisco designer for over 20 years, I have been to many show rooms and used Fortuny for many of my past projects. When I was in Venice we decided that it would be a wonderful experience to visit the Fortuny showroom to get a sense of their history and production. However, Ms. Turrin, the showroom manager, was less than welcoming to the point of being rude and making us feel very unwelcome. We were 10 minutes early and she seemed put off right away. We were given a tour of the garden and 25 minutes later allowed to go into the showroom without permission to use the facilities before our tour began. We were not allowed to touch the fabrics and when I inquired about purchasing fabric for a future project she was more concerned with seeing my resale number than anything else. Read moreDon't bother my hotel called to make sure it was opened, I showed up and they asked if I had an appointment, said no, they had 2 costumers in the boutique, wouldn't let me in asked me to wait 1/2h, I asked if I could visit the garden in the mean time: answer no then reluctantly this salesgirl accompanied me rapidly in the said garden, they asked what hotel I was staying, didn't disclose, then let me in, felt like a vagabond trying to get in a fancy store.
