Bar Serena — Restaurant in Ventimiglia

Please, if you are looking for great service, wonderful food, and beautiful atmosphere stop by Bar Serena and order that day’s special. This was my first time in Italy and I feel like I truly experienced the beauty of this culture at this restaurant. Our server Lorenzo, greeted us with so much love and hospitality! We are American and he spoke wonderful English! So easy to understand and relate to. If you are new to Italy and are feeling any level of culture shock, make sure to stop by Bar Serena, they truly make you feel at home. The service was very quick! Everything was made on the spot. I am almost positive they get their ingredients from the market that is just across the street. Everything tasted so fresh! The Wine was delightful and you could tell that the food was made with love. This wonderful meal was Catalonia and was the best I have ever had. My 72 year old Grandfather has been eating Catalonia since he was 14 and he said this was the most authentic Catalonia he has ever had in his life. Upon our arrival Lorenzo asked if we would prefer the seats on the corner, this was so thoughtful! It was a hot day and he knew the corner seats would have more breeze. Lorenzo treated us like family. They did not rush us even though we sat there for more than an hour, when we asked for the bill it shocked us all. With such good service, food, atmosphere, and prices the bill was… let’s say humble (this is a good thing) If you visit Italy… this place will truly bless you. I have only good things to say...

I cannot find the words to describe the sad experience. I don’t recall ever to have eaten so badly. So disappointed. I am Italian I should have known better but I fell into the trap. Dish of the day trofie Al pesto and insalata di polpo. Absolutely utterly inedible. Vieni in Sicilia e ti faccio mangiare una vera parmigiana e te la offro pure, maleducato! - Era da tempo che non mangiavo così male. Mi dispiace dover lasciare una brutta recensione perché il personale è stato molto gentile e premuroso ma con i piatti proprio non ci siamo. Probabilmente non vengono preparati sul posto ma solo riscaldati, se è così, consiglio di cambiare fornitori. Lasagne senza besciamella e stracotte 12€, parmigiana 12€ annegata in una salsa molto liquida, non c'è parmigiano né basilico... Se i prezzi fossero stati più bassi avrei potuto chiudere un occhio. Mi sono fatto convincere da uno sguardo veloce alle recensioni che davano un totale di 4,4 su 5 ma direi che sono cascato in pieno nella trappola...
