I guess I was just unlucky, reading the other reviews, because the pizza I had here was really disappointing. I hate leaving non-positive reviews but I felt the need to tell my story.
I was SO excited to come here - the very first pizza I ever had in Italy was at this place when it was called "Pizza and Pasta" and in a different location. It remains one of my favorite dining experiences ever. It was a much more iconic location and a much better pizza.
The pizza I got here had a very uneven base. Part of it was horribly thick and doughy. The tomatoes were very spare and the basil even more so. If the base (crust) had been at least somewhat even, it might have had a better ride through the oven and been a little more enjoyable, but I honestly get better pizza at my local dirt-cheap pub here in Scotland.
Also, the draft beer I ordered - the only draft choice on the menu - I had assumed it would be a typical Italian-style lager like a Peroni or a Moretti. Instead it was a thick, heavy, meaty wheat beer. NOT the type of beer you would want with a pizza! Or pasta for that matter. The beer was a meal in itself!
Such a bummer as I was only in town from Nice for the one meal and I’ve no idea when I’ll make it back to Italy. I certainly won’t be coming...
Read moreLa Musa in Ventimiglia, Italy, is a hidden gem for vegans craving authentic Italian pizza. I had their vegan pizza as a takeaway, and it was nothing short of amazing. The highlight was the generous layer of vegan mozzarella cheese, which was perfectly melted and wonderfully creamy. It added a rich, indulgent texture to the pizza that rivaled any traditional version I’ve tried.
The crust was thin, crisp on the edges, and beautifully soft in the center, showcasing the skill and care that went into its preparation. The balance of flavors—from the tangy tomato sauce to the fresh toppings—was spot on, creating a pizza that felt both classic and completely satisfying in its plant-based form.
Even as a takeaway, the quality was impeccable, and the pizza stayed warm and delicious. La Musa has truly raised the bar for vegan-friendly Italian cuisine, proving that traditional flavors can be perfectly recreated with plant-based ingredients. If you’re in Ventimiglia, don’t miss the chance to try their vegan pizza—it’s a...
Read moreWe have been coming to La Musa every summer for a decade, from back when it had the silly name Pizza & Pasta and was located in a tiny basement off the high street. Our son had his first lunch there just after being weaned. It is always a pleasure to see what wonders Veronika and her team will do next with delicious simple ingredients, lots of human charm and honest honest prices. Excellent pizza, freshest seafood and a divine version of pasta alla norma. Lovely staff. Finally the restaurant occupies the place it deserves, with a gorgeous outdoor terrace just steps from the station. Grazie a tutti e ci vediamo l'estate...
