Mustafà — Restaurant in Vico Equense

Very poor service, got sat far in the corner, seemed like we were getting treated differently due to speaking English. Our reservation was at 9pm, didn’t get our mains until almost midnight. I ordered a medium steak, it came rare, my partners dish was incorrect. Couple next to us came in quite abit after us, finished their whole meal before we even got our main dish. When trying to explain how long we have been waiting the lady sat at the desk was very rude and didn’t acknowledge us. At the end we had to get up to pay as no one was acknowledging us, then we were given the wrong tables bill which was far more expensive. finally after getting the correct one, we would have expected a possible discount due to the wait and incorrect food but didn’t even get an apology. Great concept, poor execution. They tried very hard to get us to order the tasting menu, so my husband order that, while I chose to explore the menu and make my own picks. THE TASTING MENU: all fish dishes had scales in them. The waitress said it was to prove the fish was fresh, when in fact anyone with a certain level of experience eating and cooking fish knows this is a result of poor prepping and cleaning. We think they push for this menu to simplify service and avoid kitchen jams during dinner time. A LA CARTE: I ordered the capressa salad (hard to mess that o e up), the Octopus Ragú pasta which seemed to be one of the highlights of the menu (it was okay), and fried seafood classic (tasted like old cooking oil and was saggy). Firstly, the views from this restaurant were incredible and a great setting for dinner, especially with the sunset in the background. However, the food on offer did not live up to expectations.

For starters, we had the mussels and octopus. The mussels were bland and the octopus was incredibly chewy.

For mains, we had the sea bass fish of the day and the seafood risotto. Both were devoid of flavour. The sea bass was fine but the courgettes and aubergine were elastic and covered in olive oil (no taste) and the potatoes were undercooked. The risotto was incredibly salty (more than to be expected with seafood) and had little to no extra flavour.

Overall, incredibly disappointing and we always had the feeling they were rushing us to ensure we were out of there as soon as possible (e.g. mains were brought out before they had cleared away our starters).
