The Beach Gang Island Grill is a “pop up” inside of the Chatan Yakiniku restaurant. Hawaiian BBQ is a favorite of mine, so when this spot popped up on Maps I knew we had to try it. There is not much listed about it online, so our group (2 adults and 2 children) pulled up expecting to eat there. There was no seating available if you ordered from Beach Gang, not a problem, we’ll take it to go. It was 11:45 when we arrived at the restaurant, there was only one other person inside and he was waiting for his to go order as well. In terms of it being busy or expecting a long wait, there was no extra pressure on staff. The place was silent, and the kitchen was being asked to handle two orders. We left with our food at 12:30, 45 minutes after our order was placed. Now, I’ll wait for good food, good food takes time. But we got home (a 10 minute drive) and were fairly disappointed. After that long wait, the garlic shrimp ALL were not cleaned properly, they all had pieces of the “poop line” still in the back. A few had the entire line. They were also a bit rubbery, though I can’t blame the restaurant for that because we did have to drive home and the shrimp cooled a bit. The glaze on the chicken tasted like it was finished with an artificial flame, like a torch or butane, it left a burnt, chemically aftertaste. The pork was good, the mac salad was fine but bland, and the rice was rice. The food was edible, but not enjoyable for the most part. Glad we tried this place so we know how it is, but we will not...
Read moreI would like to point out that it tricky to locate the restaurant due to it being two businesses at one location. There are two signs posted at the front of the building for each of the businesses. I noticed that when I got the ideal of it being the same place and walked to the interest. Only if you could see me walking back and forth looking for a marquee sign, you’d be laughing to this day.
The restaurant had a good vibe and peaceful. The staff was very polite, friendly, and helpful. They provided me a menu for the BBQ. I believe it is only to-go. Because the restaurant is Yakiniku style, so there would be no where for you to sit. There are English friendly menus and the pictures describe exactly what you get. It does not take long for the order to come it and I feel like it is made to order (prepared) because I walked 20 minutes home and the food was stlll nice and warm.
Speaking of the food, I ordered the chicken, Shrimp, and Kalbi Beef Combo. It was delicious, worth the price, and the perfect serving size. The chicken was super tender, beef and shrimp was flavorful. If you are looking for some good BBQ, I highly encourage you give Beachgang Island...
Read moresoooo i'm thinking they should definitely update the outside with a banner or something because we just happen to find this place just searching for something new to eat. I literally pass this place everyday and never even noticed it. ANYWAY, more importantly, this place is amazing. So delicious! We tried calling but the call wasn't going through so we tried to order online....we ended up on their FB page, and they take orders through messenger! how awesome.
Only con: Usually I like to try new places three times to comment on consistency. I tried this place twice so far, and the rice was not as good as it was the first time. The first time it was perfect, nice and garlicy lol but the next time it was not that great; however, I will definitely go back for that third try because everything else was so...
