This is a former castle site. No castle currently there, just the remains of several altars. It’s at the top of the hill at the corner of 58 and 130. Two ways to get up there, neither is easy. Wear good walking shoes, sandals would not work.
Option 1 is to walk up the very steep (almost 45 degrees) dirt and rock path about 100 m. You can find the path across 130 from Camp Foster gate 4. There is a small red concrete marker in the grass to mark the entrance. This is a step and strenuous trail.
When you get to the top there are several altars and a path to the left, which brings you to several more altars, and a dead end. You can follow the fence about 200 m to get back to...

Many small birds can be heard, but they seem to be very shy. Although the site is clearly well maintained, it's obvious that very few people visit, because the paths are not worn down...
Read moreGood wilderness close to American Village if you need a break from all the busy-ness. Like others said, you enter by walking between a fence and an electric tower, and it really does feel like you’re not supposed to be there, but it’s okay! The hike up is relatively short but a lot of climbing. It’s beautiful but lots of bugs so wear long pants and sleeves....
