バー・メンフィス （Bar Memphis） — Restaurant in Chiba

Memphis was like my second home in Inage. There's nothing else like it in the surrounding areas. Definitely worth taking a night away from the larger Chiba city to visit.

The staff are incredibly kind and friendly. They helped me make friends in Japan and experience life there in ways I'd never be able to on my own.

The customers are very varied with people from all walks of life and yet it very much feels like a community bar. The bar is themed after Memphis in America and feels very authentic, with excellent music that is perfect for either listening to or having a conversation. It's neither too quiet or too loud.

Despite that it feels more like an English pub than any English pub I've seen in Japan. It feels like that because it's very much a staple of the community, full of people who know and care about each other just looking to relax and have a good time. But at the same time, it's full of people who are happy to chat and make new friends.

The owner cares very strongly about customer experience and is always asking about how to improve even more despite already being miles above any nearby competition.

As for the food, it hardly requires an introduction. Mention the bar in the local area and the first thing people talk about is the burgers. The food is all very high quality and cooked to order. It's not a place you order food because you're drunk. It's a place you can visit just to enjoy the food. I recommend the curry on weekends.

I knew very little about alcohol when I first went there, just the few drinks I liked. The staff members are very knowledgeable though and will suggest specific drinks according to your tastes or mood if you ask.

Overall Memphis is a hidden gem and despite going home to England I still find myself wishing I could visit there...

This is a great place! The atmosphere is relaxing. The customers are nice. The food is fantastic and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend tasting the "Memphis Hamburger." It's tastes so good, just like the burgers back home. The master of the bar is an awesome person. He is so friendly, cool, and internationally minded.
