Yamaku — Restaurant in Fujikawaguchiko

I first discovered this restaurant in 2018 and was amazed by their hot soba. That was my first time of tasting their local specialty mushroom, and I couldn’t forget about its wonderful taste and texture all these years! I paid here a second visit in 2023 just to find out what exactly this special mushroom was. We didn’t have time to have a meal there but the owner was very kind to introduced the mushroom to us and let my family tried the taste. We ended up buying one bag of mixed mushroom to cook at our resort. (Must be washed MULTIPLE times because they are soaked in salty water).

There is English speaking staff! She speaks fluently and very helpful towards customers. There are udon and soba here tempura only comes from set. Expect a delicious combination! The pork is extremy juicy and soft, the mushroom makes me soo surprised it has strong umami taste! Every vegetables comes from the mountain which explains the crazily delicious taste. Nice cozy restaurant with delicious food prepared by and old lady running it. The Soba with tempura was very good. As the lady seems to run this place alone (restaurant, ice cream shop, souvenirs) everything took a while, but as we where not in a hurry we fully enjoyed the view outside and then the warming noodles.
