I got the hamburger with steak and pineapple on top. First off I love the vibe in here. Just a cool fuinki and kinda makes you feel like you’re back in America a little bit. Incredible service and REALLY good value for your food. I’ve had really nice / expensive hamburgers in Japan and while Definately high quality, the portions are always lacking. This place gives such huge portions that filled me up and the quality of meat was awesome. The steak was really good too. My only complaint is that the cast iron pan kinda seeps into the flavor of the food. I don’t know if this is a cast iron problem or the specific cast iron they used. Read moreI had always known the name “Bikkuri Donkey,” but thought it was just another family restaurant focused on hamburg steaks. I had never visited—until I heard about their philosophy and commitment to food quality.
They use pasture-raised cattle fed mainly on grass, hay, and silage, without any growth hormones. Their vegetables are domestically sourced, grown by selected farmers who follow strict standards regarding pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
Even the coffee, a side item, is made from fair trade beans they purchase directly themselves.
I was also impressed by the friendly and attentive service, especially from the foreign staff. Cold water is always served straight from the fridge, showing attention to even the smallest details.
With such strong values and thoughtful business practices behind everything, it's almost a shame that the casual name “Bikkuri Donkey” might cause people to overlook what a high-quality restaurant it truly is.
