Honestly, the service was fine. The food however was underwhelming. Felt like a honeytrap.
We had the oyster course, and the food we ate can be summarized to: espresso cup sized soup 4pcs of oysters really thin sliced beef carpaccio ~3-5g 50-70g of sea bream filet ~70g of wagyu steak a montblanc dessert cut in half
The atmosphere was fine and decoration was beautiful. Everything started out decent; the oysters were a bit small but tasted fresh. It started going downhill when the sea bream came. It was overcooked and dry. The white wine sauce was bland and the sides offered no enhancement to the dish. Undercooked or overcooked fish is really evident in a dish. It felt like it was left in the broiler too long or didn’t calculate that the fish continues to cook after taken out. Not sure if the head chef or sous chef was out tonight. After the fish, there’s only two more dishes left. At this point, you should start making plans for your next meal. The beef was good, but again the pan sauce was plain, no layers to the flavor. Finally, the dessert blew my mind. They cut a cake in half to serve to...
Read moreBooked a table at Ocean House through their website—super easy, just a 200-yen fee, totally worth it for the stunning ocean view. This place is seriously Instagram-worthy, especially at night with the vibe and lights. Went in hearing the food was so-so, but we were pleasantly surprised. Got a dozen Japanese oysters, and they were spot-on—fat, fresh, and yummy. Loved the tip to eat from mild to strong flavors; it really worked. The cheese and mentaiko (明太子) pizza was a highlight too, definitely recommend that one. Drinks, especially the alcoholic ones, were just okay—nothing special.
It was packed at night, so booking’s a must. Everything was going great until we found a dead worm (over 2cm!) on an oyster shell after finishing. Kinda gross. Told the staff, and after some back-and-forth, they gave us 20% off. Didn’t want to make a scene, so we took it and left. View and oysters were a win, but that worm?...
Read moreWorst dining experience in Japan. Location - 12mins walk from the nearest JR station, would be a nightmare if it rains heavily and you need to walk through soggy wet soil to get to the restaurant. Food - Nothing impressing. It is Saizeriya level taste but with a prettier platting. Atmosphere and view - it is the selling point of the restaurant and it is ok, but I will advise not to come at night as you could see nothing through the windows. Service - worse part. The staff discussed about you in front of your face if they know you are a foreigner and thought you don’t know Japanese. They discussed about my nationality, complain how little food I ordered (although nowhere mention there is minimum spending and they did not advise how small is the portion of a plate), make jokes about you and giggle in front of you thinking you don’t understand a single word of Japanese. The staff has zero respect...
