At Daihachi, a traditional Japanese restaurant in the heart of Gujohachiman, we experienced a culinary journey that perfectly captured the local flavors. The salt-grilled sweetfish, also known as ayu fish, was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of saltiness, making it a memorable highlight of our meal. The tender beef yakiniku donburi was another standout dish, with its rich, savory flavors blending seamlessly with the warm, fluffy rice beneath. We also indulged in the Okumino Kojidori chicken miso hotpot, a comforting and hearty dish that warmed us up on a cool day.
The restaurant itself exudes a cozy and authentic Japanese atmosphere, complete with traditional tatami-mat seating, which added a unique charm to our dining experience. The hospitality we received was warm and inviting, making the entire meal feel even more special. This delightful dining experience at Daihachi is highly recommended for anyone visiting this picturesque riverside town. Our kids especially enjoyed the unique flavors and the comfortable, family-friendly setting. If youโre in Gujo Hachiman or exploring Gifu Prefecture, Daihachi is a must-visit for an authentic taste of...
ย ย ย Read moreHidden gem thats english friendly. Ill start by saying the only real negative here is its alittle expensive however, you are getting your money's worth. I was skeptical at first but since there wasnt many options around i wanted to give this place a try. I got the japanese beef bowl. It came with rice meat and miso soup. To start off the miso soup was hot, fresh and had a excellent taste. The rice was not soggy nor undercooked and had a great yakiniku sauce on top. The meat... the meat was so tender and just melted in my mouth. Admittedly i dont like fat but i figured since i was going to write a review, ill give it a try. Even the fat melted in my mouth and was flavorful. My girlfriend got the other dish in the photo so i can"t speak for the taste but it did also look good. Overall if you are in the area, i highly recommend giving this place a try, you wont regret it. There is nearby cheap parking as well. I do wish the portion size was bigger since it was really good. ITS YEN...

Also, there is a sewing shop next door which does not appear on google so im having to review it here as it appears to be the same building. The sewing shop is run by a lovely local who hand makes dolls. They are similar but not to life scale as the dolls from nagoro on shikoku known as the scarecrow village. the story is both sad and beautiful; as the towns decline, the dolls are made to appear like there are more ppl around so it feels less lonely. here are a few dolls i bought from the lovely and warm lady on a couple of my trips. they all have their own...
