We went there two nights ago and probably should have left it at that. If we did, I’d have given this review a solid 5 stars. Of course, we decided to return the next night and it was enough to spoil the happy story (and review) it should have been.
I’ll be fair and describe our first experience there. The atmosphere was great, warm and cosy on a cold autumn night. The steak we had was seasoned to a T (though slightly overcooked, but still ok), the other food we ordered (fish, edamame, fried chicken skin) above average. I think the whole experience was really enjoyable because of the warmth, ambience, service, drinks and affordable prices. It was good enough we decided to return the next night.
The second night was such a far cry, we left disappointed, hungry and angry. It was full house when we arrived at 7pm — understandable and we initially thought it was nice of them to open up the second floor for us. We ordered sake, beer, appetisers, food. It took 40 minutes before the first appetiser arrived, after which we offered to move downstairs if it made things easier for the service staff (I think there was only one lady serving the entire restaurant the entire night, which can explain the delay, but not the kind of delay we experienced). They said no.
We then waited another 20 minutes before the next appetiser arrived. An hour in without our drinks? Ridiculous. Food we could understand due to the crowd, but just drinks? We had to ask for them, after which only my sake and tea arrived. My mother’s beer didn’t..
Another 15 minutes and we were done. We left — only to find the entire first floor practically empty, i.e. even the later batch of customers had come and gone before we were served our food and drinks. The cashier also wanted us to pay for all that we ordered — things that mostly never even came. We refused and paid only for what came — but that they came after an hour? I’ll let you be the judge of that.
We got instant noodles from the convenience store next door and went back to our rooms.
I really wanted to write a good one. Perhaps the night before was so excellent, the second let us down even more than it should have. Probably my first truly unwelcome experience as a...
Read moreI was there yesterday and had an enjoyable dinner so we went back today. Left feeling angry, thirsty, hungry and would have been 5000 yen poorer had i not insisted on not paying for food and drinks I did not consume. We arrived at around 7.00pm. The restaurant occupies two floors and we were brought to the upper floor - the only customers there tonight. We ordered food and drinks and waited, waited and waited. Some time before 8 pm I went down to check and saw only one waitress serving a near full house downstairs. She subsequently brought one appetiser and we waited again. I went down again and saw that a few tables have been vacated. I offered to move downstairs so she does not need to run up and down but she said it is fine and she will soon bring us our order. She came at about 8 pm and brought us another appetiser. I went down again and saw the lower floor has almost been clear of customers. Our order has still not arrived. She then brought my partner's drinks but not mine. At8.30 pm we decided to leave and went to the counter to settle our bill. We were charged for everything we have ordered amounting to about 5000 yen. I refused to pay and in the end we paid about 1,250 yen for two appetisers and a small flask of sake. We went to a convenience store to get dinner instead. I am hoping for the rest of my trip I will not have such a very very unpleasant dining...

Despite being one person, they sat me at a big table in the center of the room.
Food was good. And I believe reasonably priced. I ordered a variety: sushi, fried squid, gyoza, and the cheese takoyaki.
My only issue is the sauce on the cheese takoyaki. For some reason it tasty very salty to me. I ordered a glass of water after the first bite so I could finish the takoyaki and not waste it.
I’d come again and try some other things if I ever get a chance to come to hachinohe...
