After running the 2025 Tokyo Marathon, I made my way to Hachinohe, a perfect escape from the fast-paced city life. I was looking for a good balance of nature during the day and a bit of nightlife in the evening, and that's when Pokhara Restaurant came up on my list. Let’s be honest… I was definitely in search of carbs and dying for drinks! HAHAHA...
It was a pleasant dinning experience eating at Pokhara while visiting Hachinohe back in March. I DON'T usually write reviews for restaurant I go to... it's just the typical Indian foods I have in California kept reminding me how much differences about their Pokhara's offer. The fusion-style curry was truly memorable—unlike the typical Indian curry you'd find at more traditional comparing with the curry and naan I had there in Japan... I think it was the naan stood out to me—it had a subtle sweetness and came in different flavors, which was such a fun and delicious twist. Check out their menu for naan, very interesting!!!
For the curry, it wasn’t too spicy, just perfectly seasoned for my taste. Again, it has the sweetness taste (like the Japanese curry vs. Asian curry which could be very spicy), you would want to use the different palate area when having their curry. =D
Don't forget the drinks and the atmosphere, it was a plus!! I met with two regular university customers, and they are so friendly and we chat a bit at the bar with the bartender.
It is a hidden gem, it's located in a narrow alley along with other small restaurants around.
A big thank you to the staffs for the warm hospitality. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. I will definitely go back there for another try (different favors of naan) when visiting...
