Rose Garden — Restaurant in Hachinohe

This bar is amazing.

Recently, I was in Hachinohe and went on a Thursday evening.

The bar was quiet, so I had a chance to chat with the bartender/owner and also with a couple of customers. The bartender has a warm vibe and is good at keeping the conversation going.

She is an incredibly skilled bartender with a deep knowledge of both alcohol and cocktails. My first one or two cocktail orders were standards; after that, I asked if she could make whatever she thought I'd like (based on our conversation, and what I'd been drinking). The results were both delicious and really interesting.

The bar has ~100 varieties of Calvados, as well as a lot of interesting whiskies and gins. But if you like cocktails at all, I would recommend ordering either a classic cocktail; one of the fresh-fruit cocktails that seem to be a specialty of the house; or something custom-made based on your preferences. The attention to detail is really incredible.

I returned the next evening, Friday, for a couple of drinks. The bar filled up quickly after opening, and the bartender, now with the help of a bar back, skillfully juggled making several drinks at once and conversation with the customers. Impressive.

Hidden gem and highlight of my trip in Hachinoe. Started with a few cocktails from the menu and then the master customised cocktails based on my tastes. The master was really kind in sharing about how her love for apples influences her cocktails. She gave me some Hachinoe local snacks and recommended some bars in Tokyo and Kyoto.
