Ajidokoro Furukawa — Restaurant in Hida

This restaurant gets away with high prices and mediocre food due to its fame from being in the film "Your Name".

We ordered the Hida beef BBQ set at 3190 yen, and the beef curry set at 1540 yen.

Hida beef BBQ set: flavor of the beef was alright. It's just beef. The miso flavor was good. But nothing special. the fried croquette was stone cold. It had obviously been sitting there for a while. Disappointing for a 3190 yen set meal. the various pickles and salads and accompaniments were average. Nothing to write home about. "dessert" was yogurt in a small cup. Tasted like store bought yogurt. If I wanted yogurt I would have gone to the convenience store for it.

Beef curry set: the flavor of the curry was similar to instant curry roux that's bought from supermarkets. it was ground beef. But I only got three tiny bits of beef in my curry. Hida is known for its beef, and so it was disappointing. one of the sides was a spaghetti ham salad. How japanese lol.

To add to the disappointment: even though the restaurant was half empty, we had to wait at the counter for five minutes in order to pay. Because no one was at the counter. We ended up missing our train.

Friendly staff and delicious rice cakes called Goheimochi rice cake. It is skewered sweet rice cake served with soy sauce and miso, which is famous local food in Hida. The secret to make the rice cake tasty is the sauce with miso. This is such a wonderful rice cake, yet it tastes so amazing I remembered the experience as if I just ate it yesterday. Another famous dish in Hida here is Hoba Miso. Hoba Miso is a regional dish in Hida Takayama area of Japan. “Hoba” means a magnolia leaf in Japanese and the dried hoba leaf is soaked then used to cook the sweet miso mixture over fire. This store is famous because of movie “ Your Name. “ It appears in one of the scene. The staff will be happy to help clients to take photos like what characters do in movie. They will tell people how to sit on the right seats outside the store which is exactly the same place in movie. The owner of store will also ask movie fans to leave their handwritings or signature in his books. There were so many movie fans around the world coming here that their signatures or hand writings have been...

:( the beef curry only has ONE slice of beef, and the set doesn't contain ramen like the picture. It does have pear, cabbage, kombu and apple juice. 🥘

So I had to add the beef steak, which was 5 slices of beef... Tasted good with the miso though. 🐮

Goheimochi is alright, it's squished rice with sweet sauce.

Overall, comforting meal and nice service but too pricey and...
