KUROMOJI COFFEE. 6-stars if I could. First of all, and I can't emphasize this enough, order their kuromoji coffee (I think hot was better than iced but both were excellent - and they use paper straws!). Kuromoji is a tree in Japan that has dark bark that looks like kanji characters have been written all over it. The tree is highly sought after in Japan for oil making, as it's scent has health benefits. That the people of Fab Cafe took their forestry knowledge to experimental heights is just amazing. They came up with a kuromoji infusion into their coffee using branches they sourced locally. This creation was the result of experimenting with different herbs and trees, and while I love kuromoji tea, I would have never thought it would be so good infused in coffee. Regardless of my overly biased affinity for kuromoji, this cafe is just so stylish. It is in a renovated old buidling with really high ceilings, and its really spacious so its quite easy to have privacy while there. The back windows overlook their lumberyard and woodworking space, and the front of the cafe has the fabrication machine, the cafes namesake. In addition to the coffee, I also ordered the salmon bagel sandwhich, which was so good that I came here for lunch both times I was here. I can't stress enough how great this place is. And for those who need something stronger than coffee, they also have a couple of selections of craft beer, at least one of which was local. Of note, this cafe shares a name with Fab Cafe Kyoto, and though it is the Hida branch, only the Hida branch serves the kuromoji coffee (or at least it was the only one serving it when I was there).

Concept cafe ? Yesssss conceptualised n integrated work/seminar/meeting cafe with supporting tech and space. Innovative yet with a real axed laid back feel for those who wish to have meetings on location. Great service, delicious beverages n snacks all done up in an old redecorated sake brewery - nice touch to traditional premises. Also a great space to while away the hour with business discussions or just a catch up chat with friends. Opinion - Too Kool 👍 Sugoi, Steki desu

Beautiful place with good coffee and great crew! The interior is simply stunning, very clean, with traditional wooden beams. Pour-over coffee tasted amazing and the price was very good. English-friendly; we had some great interactions with the staff! And it was interesting to see the "Fab" part: laser-cutting, 3D printing etc. We went to FabCafe twice from Takayama, to enjoy the calm atmosphere (and the coffee). Would love to come back!

Lovely cafe/workspace! We went fairly early so it was very peaceful. Well renovated space that blends modern with a more traditional building. Their canelé are so tasty and well done, especially the wild sesame one! Echoing a previous review on the kuromoji coffee, but their drip coffee is also quite tasty! We ended up ordering another round of coffee and canelé just to enjoy a second time. If you’re in the area, definitely drop by!

Delicious salmon bagel, loose leaf tea and wild rice cakes with sesame. The home made apple pie was divine. Really modern cafe but did not feel touristy at all. There is the menu in English which is very helpful. The design element to the Fab Cafe is really unique. You can make your own rubber stamp or sake glass or have a photo printed onto wood.

A lovely cafe. The bagel with a side of pickeled veg and roasted walnuts is tasty, the salmon is out of this world fresh! Also try the chilled Canele with ice cream. The earl grey tea and cafe latte were enjoyable. Stop by for a small brunch on your walking tour of this beautiful town.
