Kaminari Sushi — Restaurant in Himeji

We found this almost hidden restaurant looking for a sushi place on a Japanese holiday. Every place was fully booked and did not have a table for two…

Due to good recommendations we just came here not having looked into the restaurant in detail and damn we wished we had come more hungry to enjoy the chef‘s Omakase. 🍱

First of all, it’s a lovely and super authentic Japanese place. I assume we were the only non-locals… Google Maps made us do it!

While at first it felt quite a bit tricky to place our order since we did not understand anything from the a-la-carte menu and Google Translate was not of big help either only giving us gibberish results, we ended up enjoying a lovely meal thanks to the lovely lady that served us!

We had some very extraordinary Nigiri with very high quality products that we did not get served anywhere before. … some very unusual tastes, but it was sooooo good! 😌

這次GW的小旅行我們在姬路城這一晚安排的是tabelog上有3.61分的雷寿司，是一間餐點美味、氛圍很輕鬆的おまかせ。

一入座點好酒水後，第一道是帶點微酸很開胃的日式冷湯跟一盤炸的非常酥脆的鹹香魚骨頭，完全沒想到原來連魚骨頭都可以這麼好吃！！🤩然後就開啟一連串的生魚片與握壽司，每一道所用的食材都非常新鮮，而且師傅會依照不同海鮮本身的特性搭配不同的調味方式，不光都是芥末的辛辣味。

其中有兩件事情讓我印象最深刻，一個是其中有一貫壽司是“蔥”壽司，壽司主食材就是小細蔥、搭上柴魚片跟海苔，我發誓我從來沒想過原來蔥可以這麼好吃！！！另一個就是他們的薑，以往我最不愛壽司旁的醃製薑，但我這次觀察到隔壁的客人不但吃光了第一份，再補上的薑也吃光光，忍不住嚐了一片以後覺得天吶‼️也太好吃了！！！🥹嫩薑醃製過以後辛辣感剛剛好，帶點微微的酸甜，很是讓人胃口大開！

除了握壽司以外還有一些熱食，比方蒸蝦＆螺肉/貝類（？）、鰻魚飯、魚骨湯等等，就連最後的玉子燒都好吃得不得了🤤。

另外，這也是我遇到最有趣的壽司師傅了，他捏完所有的壽司以後開始跟我們閒聊，而且是很積極地用翻譯軟體跟我們聊天；先是問我們是不是偶像🤣（可能看我一直拍照？），再好奇我們是不是夫妻，最後聊嗨了還主動說要幫我們拍照合影😆；加上店內有非常多種清酒選擇，當晚是帶著飽到不行的肚子、微醺的靈魂外加一顆非常開心的心情回飯店的。🥰

Hit up Kaminarishi in Himeji with a 3.61 rating on Tabelog for a chill evening of amazing eats! 🍣 Started with a tangy Japanese cold soup and crispy fried fish bones - who knew bones could taste this good?! 😋 Followed by a spree of fresh sashimi and sushi, each perfectly seasoned.

The highlights? Scallion sushi that'll change the way you think about scallions and pickled ginger that turned me into a fan - sweet, tangy, just the right kick to whet the appetite! 🤩 Also devoured some steaming shrimp & eel rice among other hot dishes, every bite unforgettable.

The sushi chef was the coolest, chatting with us through a translator app, super engaging! Ended the night full, tipsy, and super happy. 🥰 Highly recommend if you’re visiting...

Loved it. All in Japanese so we ordered randomly from the menue. All was great just some not our taste. Dont trust Google translate on the menue. All were super nice.
