ガビラン / Gavilan — Restaurant in Hiroshima

This is one of the okonomiyaki restaurants that I can recommend to people. The owner, from Barcelona, Spain (speaks Spanish, little bit of Japanese and English) is very friendly and loves okonomiyaki. I always order okonomiyaki, Niku (meat), Tama (egg), Ikaten (fryed caramari), Soba (noodles). The soba was crunchy outside, the rest of okonomiyaki is fluffy and flavorful. You can add his original alioli sauce for the topping instead of mayo. He has a few Spanish tapas on the menu which are delicious. A uniquely delicious place for lunch or dinner.

This place is incredible!!! We were so lucky to get a seat here without a reservation. Chef knew he wouldn’t be able to feed us right away and was hesitant to accept us — it was worth the extra wait.

The goal for the evening was to experience Okonomiyaki — but in addition we got some great tapas, too.

Unbelievable okonomiyaki! After decades of eating Japanese food, I can honestly say this was the best I’ve ever had.
