Tamonin Temple （approx、 1.75 kilometers from the hypocenter) The roof of the main building at Tamonin Temple lost most of its roof tiles to the blast wind. Nevertheless in the evening of August 6, 1945, the Prefectural Air Defense Headquarters was moved here from t Prefectural Government Building, which was crushed and burned to the ground. The next day, the Headquarte.s was moved again to the East Police Station, but this temple received relief supplies and distributed rice balls to the crowds of survivors that fled to Hijiyama Hill. The bell tower, its beams broken by t has been preserved as a reminder.
