食処 海み屋 — Restaurant in Imizu

This restaurant can be a little confusing for foreigners as the staff do not speak any English.

If you solely want to eat a whole crab, COME HERE! After the crab auction (held just 2 building away) ends at 12.30pm, the crabs are immediately brought to the restaurant, steamed and ready to serve.

The servers will take note of the order each party was seated and the chef will then invite you to pick your crab(s) of choice in that order. This part was a bit ambiguous to us when we first sat down due to the lack of English explanation.

The crabs come in small, medium, large and are priced at ¥5,000, ¥6,000 and ¥7,000 respectively. This is extremely cheap in my opinion, especially when you consider how those markets in the city are charging double or triple the price.
