I often say that you can’t have a bad meal in Japan, but this was a pretty mediocre experience. The sushi rice was mushy and had too much vinegar. The fish quality wasn’t great. The upsetting part was that the owner charges ¥4000 for his “special” donnuri bowl and the top Nigiri set. It was eight pieces each of mediocre quality fish. Having traveled around Hokkaido for a week, ¥4000 is a lot for one dish. We’ve had really fresh donburi balls for ¥2500 or ¥3000. He also charged ¥400 per small cup of “clear” soup when it’s included at most other places. This owner is taking advantage of tourists and it’s very obvious. I’m happy to pay for quality food but this was not it and I don’t like feeling like I was taken for. This meal was the worst meal I had the entire week I spent driving around Hokkaido. Three stars is me being generous because he’s an older gentleman.

Lovely sushi restaurant run by a charming gentleman. First we were served delicious warm tea and sat on an adorable tatami mat in the front. The menu had Japanese English and pictures and the chef took our order and also spoke some English. He was very friendly. we ordered some nigiri and rolls and everything was freshly made and so delicious!!!! Best sushi ever. Awesome lunch after a big morning hike. Highly recommend.

An authentic sushi restaurant with a traditional layout as it has been opened for 60+ years (with the chef honing his skills for 45 years) Loved the sushi a lot, the seafood is fresh! Worth every penny. Perhaps the best sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. The chef (owner) is friendly and we had nice time chatting with him. He also has a daughter who coincidentally studied in the same profession as us 🤣

It's a small mom and pop sushi restaurant. It is at the end of the snow season , and the owner attended to us himself. There were no other customers. The sushi counter did not have any fish on display. I assume all the fish were stored in the refrigerators below.

He prepared the sushi and brought to the tatami rooms. Simple , tasty, hit the spot. The tuna hand roll was very good. The O toro...
