I’d give 5 stars to the staff who served our food last night. He was very attentive and friendly. The food, however, was mediocre. My husband liked most of it. The Pad Thai had burnt egg, and the charred part mixed in with the noodles. The noodles’ texture was good but the whole dish tasted like smoke and charred bits. I requested nampla or fish sauce just to add flavor because all I could taste was the bitter burnt/ charred flakes from the egg. Maybe they used an unwashed pan with burnt bits, I don’t know…There was a piece of aluminum scrap in our laksa dish, which really ruined my dining experience. First time in Japan for me after living here for years. Luckily, my husband found it, he sometimes just swallows his food without chewing so this incident really triggered my anxiety. They graciously removed the item in our bill. The vibe and atmosphere of the place is nice. The other staff/workers didn’t seem happy to be there, maybe they have personal problems at home or something. There are plenty of much better Asian dining places when it comes to food. The only saving grace of this restaurant is the interior and lighting of the place. I also like their plates and cutlery. Sadly, I still don’t understand why many people want to eat here. But I only tried 3 main dishes and maybe their ‘signature dish’ is worth returning to this place. I hate writing bad reviews, but this might help other people decide, and warn them to chew carefully when...
Read moreSadly after the renovation in mid 2023, this restaurant has turned for the worse. It used to be our local favourite, which we would go to about 2 times a month. Now the staff is TERRIBLY unskilled - even the plain Thai rice straight from the rice cooker was hard and cold. All 5 dishes we ordered arrived only lukewarm and after a relatively long wait, even though we were the only customers at 17:30 on a Wednesday. 2 chicken dishes were undercooked, 1 with raw middle on skewers - potentially dangerous! Waiters seem slightly annoyed and do not notice when glasses or plates are empty. There's almost no mobile internet in the deeper parts of the restaurant but some customers are asked to use QR codes on their phones to order from websites. Only when we insisted we couldn't order we received a tablet (with the remark that earlier the tablets wouldn't have worked).
Last but not least, the kitchen is now located in the middle of the restaurant without any noise barriers. With unskilled staff like the current ones, the BANGING of pots, woks, and plates was really interruptive and unpleasantly loud.
Sadly we won't be back for a while. It's been already some weeks since the reopening, but it seems the staff needs far more training. Honestly very disappointed how a fantastic restaurant...
The service at this restaurant was extremely poor, with most issues centered around a middle-aged male staff member. His behavior was rude and unkind, to the point of making us suspect racial discrimination.
We visited as a group of five without a reservation. Despite there being many empty seats, we were told that they were all “reserved” and were seated in a cramped area near the kitchen, with no option to sit by the more comfortable side tables. Additionally, one of our members, who was sensitive to the smell of dish detergent from the kitchen, requested to move to one of the empty side seats, but this was also refused under the claim that they were reserved. However, those seats remained unoccupied throughout our meal. To make matters worse, the male staff member bumped into my friend in the narrow aisle, causing her to stumble without any apology, and unnecessarily warned another friend who kindly made way for him, saying, “Don’t stand there.”
The quality of the food had also significantly declined, with dishes being either overly salty or completely flavorless. Our previous visits to this restaurant had been positive, but this experience was entirely different. While I had encountered no such issues when dining alone and speaking Japanese in the past, this time we spoke Chinese throughout, raising suspicions of discrimination. It is especially disappointing that a restaurant that prides itself on Asian cuisine, including Chinese dishes, would treat non-Japanese Asian customers this way.
What was meant to be a joyful gathering with friends turned into an unforgettable night of disappointment due to terrible service and...
