Rose Garden Café — Restaurant in Kitanakagusuku

I will never dine here again. I am extremely disappointed and very dissatisfied with my experience at this establishment. I feel like my party and I were hustled and scammed. I understand how the lunch menu works now, but it is extremely confusing. Granted, I don’t speak Japanese fluently. But I know some basic Japanese and I’ve lived in Okinawa for years. Also, my two friends who dined with me speak Japanese pretty fluently. One is a half Japanese adult and the other has lived in Okinawa for four decades and works with a Japanese company. My friends inquired about the lunch menu before we ordered and were led to believe that the drinks were included. My friend ended up having to pay about ¥400 for regular iced tea. That is a rip off. I was really hungry and got two lunch sets, so I ended up having to pay for two drinks. Of course, the waitress didn’t see me ordering two drinks as a potential issue. After ordering, our waitress changed. The restaurant was next to empty except for my group and maybe two other customers, so that change is rather suspicious. At the register my friends and I were very confused by the bill. Of course, we had to be wrong and the restaurant had to be right. I feel like this place doesn’t really care about customer satisfaction. After we left, my half Japanese friend said he got a drink included with his lunch set in a previous visit with a different waitress. If the restaurant patronizes this complaint, ignores it, or doesn’t take 100% responsibility for this confusion, then interpret their actions or lack of actions as a red flag. I suggest...

When you order a combo, including a salad and French toast, you don't expect sweet and savory mixed. The restaurant sprinkles powdered sugar on it and gives you syrup. Therefore, they should know it doesn't mix with Italian dressing. To have sweet French toast soaked in italian dressing is totally unacceptable. If we were talking about garlic bread, I wouldn't be complaining.

I took the high road and ordered another set of french toast and but it was too soggy, so my daughter refused to eat either serving. もったいないです but lesson learned. I'm not opposed to returning, but I would definitely request a separate plate for my French toast.

The food we ordered was delicious! The Berry Berry Crunch French Toast was yummy and the fruit tasted so fresh. The Eggs Benedict was good and fulfilling. My table also ordered both the lemon and strawberry squash. It was a bit too sweet and overwhelming for our tastebuds but still yummy. The radio was slightly annoying in the café, it made it feel more like a noisy mall cafeteria. Not the kind of vibe we enjoy in a café. The staff were polite but seemed a little stressed in the environment. It took about 20 minutes until we waved someone down to take our order.
