Cafe Piefika — Restaurant in Kobe

この店主はとても失礼です。 A very unfriendly shop. The owner is a young person but not friendly at all to foreigners. I originally came because of the high ratings and really wanted to try the scones, so I spent some time coming all the way here. The shop is very small, and since all the menus on the wall were in Japanese, I asked the owner if there was an English menu. He said “no,” and told me to use a translator to read the Japanese menu. But I saw on Google Maps that there is an English menu… At first I thought maybe his English wasn’t good, so I stood there trying to translate the Japanese menu on the wall and look at the pictures. When I pointed at the scones, he said “ah, scone,” so clearly he has basic English vocabulary, but still didn’t want to explain anything to me. I felt really awkward, because the only picture I recognized was scone and I couldn’t understand anything else, so I just said “thank you” and left. But after I walked out, the owner slammed the door loudly behind me.

This is a small shop with only a few seats, but the atmosphere is very comfortable. The toast and cakes are made from rice flour, giving them a chewy texture. The coffee is also delicious, and it's clear that the owner puts great care into running the place. If I visit Kobe again, I will definitely return.
