Kitano Teppan-yaki — Restaurant in Kobe

Highly misleading website that announces a meat dinner night on the “29th of every month” and explicitly mentions “29 December”. At the restaurant they then say that they don’t have it in December and that the website is mistaken... it’s their own website... that’s just misleading clients.

On top what is realy bothersome is the rather clumsy attempt by the chef to upsell in the middle of the meal to a rice upgrade. Unlike other places no explanations are given about the beef, quality, grade, etc. or what to best eat or pair it with. The wine list with three whites and three reds is also rather limited.

We had asked the concierge at ANA Crown Plaza for Kobe Beef restaurant recommendations and they recommended their own restaurants as being one of the best in Kobe and their only recommendation.

All in all, not a good experience and sad for the fine quality beef, which deserves better...

The overall quality of the teppanyaki is quite good except the fish and lobster 🦞 are Over cooked. Fish is too overcooked and less juicy inside, the lobster as well. I believe the Wagyu beef is well done 👍! The set menu is rather too little and still feel hungry after dinner. Very courteous and speak good English that make your ordering perfect . The soupy rice is unique and you should try! The dessert is the jelly and pretty balance of the sweetness !! Convenient to agent access to and I hope the quality of the food can be improved! The same is unique in Kobe region and we enjoyed it! The price a little high with the quantity...

Oh man. This was, for sure, Kobe beef. We also got some really good Kumamoto beef as well, to fill us up, though that's a limited time special menu until May. Our meal was well worth the $160/person. The wait staff and the chefs were actively accommodating, and were also fun to chat with in their best English and our best Japanese. As a Teppanyaki grill restaurant, the chefs cook in front of you and their skill was, in my opinion, much more entertaining than the American version of doing a show for guests.
