辛麺屋 玄 — Restaurant in Kurume

I don’t understand how this place has only 3.5 stars. This is by far the most flavorful tan tan men I have had in Japan. I come every week with my friends and there are three of us that would gladly eat the Shirunashi tan tan men 汁なし坦々麺 every day. This place also has satisfyingly spicy noodles, and extra sansho pepper and chili oil for those who want to add a bit extra of one or the other. They will upgrade you from the regular to the extra portion of noodles for free and while I don’t do this, some of my male friends definitely enjoy the large portions. The Dan Dan mian and gyoza here really are wonderful! I’m so glad I decided to follow the advice of other reviewers (Paige Lockwood) and dine here. I had the level 2 spice and it was plenty spicy for me. The addition of sesame paste into the sauce was a very welcome surprise. Finished the meal with a yummy soft serve ice cream in a tuille cone. Google user Paige Lockwood was right, this place is great! I brought my family friend here to have 汁なし担々麺 and gyoza, and it was all so good. The slightly spicy (spice level 3) noodles are more flavourful than the normal (spice level 2) noodles, but food shouldn’t hurt you so follow your heart I suppose....
