Wonderful food by a wonderful Chef. People who do not know the nuances of sushi would not be able to fully enjoy the experience here as the Chef is crazy talented. The way he does his sushi flips are amazing, transitioning from various methods for different fishes with amazing finesse, watching him is simply a visual symphony. The dishes were all perfectly prepared, with my personal favourite being the steamed abalone served with its own liver sauce cooked to creamy perfection, almost like a French style sauce.
He seems like a shy Chef but when you start to open him up by asking him questions and showing interest in the meal, the night is transformed to one filled with laughter and good times!
Shari is not very strong as it is more on the sweeter side and not sharp. But it’s texture pairs well with fishes that he chose which are lovely.
Overall, a definite must try if your in Hokkaido and looking for some really...
Read moreMulled this one over for a while. I’d say: if you’re reading the 3 and 4 star reviews and having doubts about booking, don’t book.
Some things tasted good. Some tasted fine. Some tasted great. Nothing made me say “wow!”
Service was rushed. They also brought the bill before I had even taken one sip of my tea. 😢
We asked them to recommend a bottle of dry white wine. The wine opened was incredibly sweet.
I asked them midway through the meal if they could call me a taxi for afterward (common for restaurant in Hirafu to do). She came back after a few minutes and said there’s nothing available. For this dinner’s price tag, I asked her to keep calling until she found one. She was successful in 5 minutes.
At a very fine dining price tag ($350pp after wine), I didn’t feel like anything about the experience (taste or...
Read moreI wrote one review but somehow it never showed up. Anyways, it is bad, if you ever been to any proper sushi Omakase in Japan or in your home country, please don’t come. On our day they told us the head chef is on day off, but the chef on that day looks like so inexperienced and I was shocked to see he 1) forgot ingredients multiple times, 2) don’t keep the table clean, 3) drop something off the table and then put it back to the plate for guest… The meal is also so rushed and everything seems in such a hurry. Feels like a fast food restaurant? Also there is no service, no one poured any drinks for any guests.
We literally got much better sushi in a nearby yakitori place the next day.
Niseko restaurants can be expensive but usually good. This one is a...
