An interesting place to stay.
Room is on level 2 above the cafe/kitchen. Access to the room is via a flight of stairs that might prove challenging with heavy suitcases. The woody interior is modern and pleasing. Big windows let in ample light and also makes you want to cosy up with hot green tea to be hypnotized by snow flakes floating down.
There is an attic above the living/dining/kitchen/sleeping area. Main sleep area is on a raised platform. We managed to squeeze 3 adults side by side on tatami beds.
The attic sleep area will thrill little ones. There are 2 ways to get up to the attic. Stairs is the dull and safe way. Wall climbing is the fun way. The attic ceiling is too low for adults but just nice for kids, who were all too happy to bunk in the "private" bedroom away from adults. There's a queen sized mattress so 2 will fit...
Read moreI visited the cafe, which was the most relaxing hideaway, right on the edge of Hirafu. I love the wooden interior and the calming feel of sipping a tea inside. When I visited we also tried one of the Matcha parfait style treats and ordered two different teas to try.
You can also try a Japanese tea ceremony there as well.
