We found Koichaya by following a sign on a small road pointing toward "dessert." We rode our bikes until we found the beautiful cafe. When we arrived to a nearly empty large gravel lot, an old-fashioned telephone booth, and a banner saying "Dessert."
We were met by a woman as we found our way through the gardens to the cafe and were led inside a small glass house of sorts. It has been about two years since we ate there, but I remember that both my husband and I loved our desserts (his a halloween pie and mine a key lime pie). I remember that my husband didn't find the coffee special, but my matcha tea was delicious.
We were able to hear the woman and a man talking in the kitchen, but we were left to enjoy our desserts alone the majority of the time. When we left, our bikes had been turned around in the direction to leave - a very nice touch.
The entire experience was very peaceful, magical, and surrounded by mystery. There was a lot of space for many guests, but we were the only ones there and we only saw the one woman and heard the man in the kitchen. We think about our visit to Koichaya frequently and hope to visit again...
