I had the loveliest time here! The two Sachiko-sans invited me to help set up the doll display for Hina Matsuri. The Taisho era dolls belonged to Sachiko-san's mother. I will remember this experience all my life. Domo arigatou gozaimasu! ❤❤❤ my favorite Japan experience.

The lady in reception was the loveliest person ever, she helped us with our bikes and she makes this beautiful handmade crafts.

嵐山から歩いて30分程度に、趣がある町並みの鳥居本があります。ずらりと並ぶ古い家、その一つが小さな博物館(?)になっています。明治初期に建ったという家がそのまま残されている他、雛人形や終戦前まで走っていたと言う愛宕山鉄道の模型を展示。休憩しながらコーヒーも飲めます。嵐山・高雄パークウェイや化野念仏寺のそばですが、天龍寺や渡月橋付近と比べてウソのように静か。この付近の駐車場に車を止めて、嵯峨釈迦堂や竹林の小径・野々宮神社・小倉山・天龍寺とかのスポットを通って渡月橋に向かうのも良いかも。帰りに疲れて、歩けなくなっても大丈夫。嵐山から清滝行きの路線バスに乗り、鳥居本で降りれば戻れます。

Very small place with signs only in Japanese and only one staff who did not speak English, so we did not understand what the museum was showing. Free and peaceful...
