Located on the way to Kashima island, it’s the perfect place to relax, have a drink or buy some cute things. The owner speaks very well English and is focused on local products and small business. I didn’t had the chance of sleeping at the guest house. But I visited the cafe/shop/pub three days in a row. The atmosphere was so nice and relaxing, which was perfect during Japan heavy summer. I also had the breakfast buffet, which is open to the public, not only people who stay the night. It was delicious traditional homemade food. Sometimes some party’s are organised because of local music events, hanabi or other traditional festivals in Hōjō. I definitely recommend you to go if you are around the area at that time.

Booked via Booking.com while on my walking Henro. Wow, what a neat place. The host,Sakura-san, is wonderful. Great English for those needing that. The second floor room overlooked the marina. Short walk to the Seapa onsen, as well as, restaurants and izakayas. Very beautiful town. Received a nice coffee upon arrival, did my laundry, and enjoyed a wonderful chat with other customers who stopped in to the adjoining coffee shop. Highly recommend!

이요호조에서 잘 곳을 찾아보다가 알게 되었습니다. 사장님께서 정말 친절하셨고 홈페이지로 예약을 했었는데, 그때 말씀드렸던 시간보다 더 일찍 왔는데도 체크인과 숙소 소개를 도와주셨습니다! 사장님께서 나긋나긋하시고 여쭤본 거에 구체적으로 설명 잘해주셔서 한 밤 잘 묵었습니다! 걱정했었는데 난방도 잘 되었고 침대도 폭닥폭닥, 그리고 무엇보다 방이 무척 컸어요...! 일본에서 한 여행들 중에 정~말 크고 넓은 방이었는데 세세한 데코레이션 디테일이 너무 귀여웠어요! 화장실도 일반 가정집이 아니라 정말 따뜻한 분위기를 만들어주는 느낌을 받아서 이요호조에서의 여행이 더 좋았던 것 같아요! 아침밥과 무료 음료도 한 잔 만들어주셨는데, 창가에서 바다와 선착장, 가지런히 나열된 요트와 각종 배들을 보면서 먹는 아침밥은 기분을 상쾌하게 해주었습니다! 일본 가정식을 뷔페 형식으로 해주셨는데 나물이랑 따뜻한 미소시루까지 맛나게 먹었습니다! 정말 1박 2일 잘 묵었고, 추천해주신 카페들 다녀왔는데 좋은 추억으로 남았어요! 마쓰야마에서 렌트카 없이 오는 건 생각보다 힘들지 몰라도, 작은 도시에서 조용히, 잔잔히 여행하고 싶으시면 너무 좋을 것 같아요! 마쓰야마 공항과는 거리가 있지만, 저는 여행 기간 중 하루를 내어 또 다시 오고 싶어요!

Sometimes some party’s are organised because of local music events, hanabi or other traditional festivals in Hōjō. I definitely recommend you to go if you are around the area...

You couldn't ask for a nicer guest house. It's clean cozy traditional and relaxing. They have an adorable little cafe and lots of little things that are local as well as bread. The food is delicious and the people are as friendly and genuinely cool as it gets. They are able to accommodate vegans and vegetarians if given notice ahead of time and are very organic and fair trade conscious. The location is excellent. Close to Kashima Island Ferry. I love the upstairs veranda as you can just enjoy looking...
