Sapporo Koran — Restaurant in Misawa

This place was my hands down favorite in Misawa when i last lived here 15 years ago. I guess there is new ownership here in the last two years. BUT this place is almost exactly the same.

I would only get the miso butter corn rib ramen. That is it. That is all I got, that is all I would order.

So I noticed a difference this time. I don't think the soup is as good as it once was, and the noodles have to be better. These are noodles you get everywhere else. If you are throwing out some good Sapporo ramen, the noodles have to be better.

HOWEVER! The rib meat? Just stinking incredible. The rib meat is three of the four stars I give this place.

I think the vending machine is fantastic. You can order in English. They have a great selection. I love the fact the tables have the holes in the floor for us big guys. This wasn't the case years ago, and the pain I went through to eat here...

I am pretty sure you go here, you won't be disappointed. While I would no longer call this my favorite in Misawa, this would be a top 3 or 4 for me certainly!

This place specializes in miso ramen. I chose the mixed miso, which was recommended for first-timers. It was good but very strong miso flavor. The red miso that my husband got is even stronger miso flavor. I might try the white miso next time since I prefer a milder miso flavor. The ordering is done through a machine at the entrance, and it accepts only 1000 yen bills. One downside is that there is no AC and its very hot. The steamed dumplings on the menu looked good and there's a shrimp ramen that also looked delicious.

Update: I tried the white miso ramen, which I much preferred. It has a sweet and light flavor. The regular size was too large, so I found out that they have half sizes for 500 yen, and that was the perfect size.
