Totteoki Bakery is our family go-to. They always have freshly baked whole loaves, we pick these up every time we shop here. This bakery offers pre-made sandwiches with baguettes, charcoal baguettes(black in color), and other fun varieties. Although our go-to loaf, which I love in particular is called “ KOKUSAN, YUDANE SHOKUPAN” (naturally risen yeast with domestic flour). Domestic (grown in Japan) refers to NON-GMO because all Japanese grown produce is regulated and must be non genetically modified, look it up if you don’t believe me. If it is labeled kokusan, that means it’s domestic, but if it doesn’t have anything written about the source of origin, it’s most likely imported flour (According to the USDA, Japan imported $1.4 billion of wheat from the United States in 2016).
