My wife and I are living on Miyako for a while and we’re trying all of the Teppanyaki restaurants on the island to figure out which one is our favorite.
Tonight we had dinner here, ordering the most expensive course, and paying extra for the upgrade to Miyako beef. Halfway through the meal, we were looking at each other like “this restaurant is going to be the winner.” In particular the beef stew was phenomenal and the fish course was creative.
However, we had decided too soon, as the main meat dish was unacceptable. They had informed us that there was only one Miyako tenderloin available, only after we had both agreed to upgrade, but what they actually served was “tenderloin tips” (as we call them in the USA), three smaller pieces of the end of the tenderloin. The quality of course was poor, compared to an actual tenderloin steak cut from a central section. Had they informed us of this, we would have chosen a replacement. I just can’t explain why after all of our conversation around steak choice, and choosing the highest grade meal they offered, they would have served this to me. They should have said “actually we don’t have any tenderloin steaks from Miyako right now, we suggest you choose a different steak.” Perhaps they thought we don’t know Teppanyaki and/or were just tourists and wouldn’t be regular customers anyways (because we are foreigners)? I hope I’m wrong and this was just some mistake or misunderstanding, but I would be very careful visiting here as a tourist.
As you can imagine, this restaurant will not be our favorite on Miyako, which is unfortunate, especially as we live just...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience at your restaurant. I made an online reservation a week in advance and received a confirmation email. This morning, I called to see if it was possible to change the reservation time from 3 PM to 2 PM. The staff informed me that the time change was not possible but confirmed my original 3 PM booking.
However, when I arrived at 3 PM, I found the restaurant was closed. This has left me with several questions:
Why didn’t the staff inform me about the restaurant’s closing time during the call? Why was my reservation confirmed if the restaurant was supposed to be closed at that time? Why did I receive a confirmation email for a time when the restaurant isn’t operating?
The whole situation has been incredibly frustrating. There were three of us, and we wasted a significant amount of time trying to figure out what went wrong, even seeking local help to call and confirm the details.
Could you please provide an...
Read moreI brought my wife’s family for lunch, they were extremely pleased and thankful for the volume, richness and cost-price value of the food. Truly a unique experience you do not want to miss on your visit to Miyako Island. There is a sommelier in the restaurant and the wine selection is great to accompany your dining. Thank you,...
