a cappella — Restaurant in Miyazaki

I visited tonight, 2023.08.09 desperate for some pizza and this looked like the best option around, so myself and my work colleague (lived in Japan for 7 years and speaks Japanese fluently) arrived and were initially welcomed by one of the staff, the the manager(or owner) stepped forward and denied us entry. My colleague was of the strong view that he simply did not want foreigners in his restaurant and without discussion or debate showed us the door to leave immediately. He cited the weather bring the reason , however the weather wasn’t bad and he already had around six customers in his restaurant already. If you are not Japanese I would avoid this restaurant but if you do decide to go and are not allowed to eat there, lease post on here and/or trip advisor. Blatant racism needs to be called out when it happens. One always heats about racism in Japan and in all my years of visiting(12 or so visits over 34 years I’ve never personally experienced nor has my Japanese speaking colleague during his 7 years of living here. As a resident of Japan for the past 7 years with a competent grasp of Japanese, I have never been made to so unwelcome as I did here. What really struck me was upon entering and being welcomed into the restaurant with the customary “irashaimase” the lady popped up from behind the counter and said “Oh” in a loud sigh, as the chef was cooking in the pizza oven his back was turned and soon realised my colleague and I standing quietly and patiently at the entrance. Much to our shock he escorted us out siting the weather as his reason, but it soon dawned on us that we had not been wanted. As there was a family already present it seemed very clear the weather could not be the reason. I felt very sad at this occasion and regret to think that they do not trust foreign business travelers in their establishment. It is a shame for them as we were very excited...

Decided to close at 8pm because I don't count as a customer. Previously I had left because they didn't have exactly what I wanted but when I came back, I wasn't welcome, despite apologising for earlier. Regardless, what kind of trash restaurant closes 2...
