A very cute and intimate little restaurant with amazing traditional Japanese ambiance. It seats very little, but it does not seem like it is very busy. My girlfriend and I got lunch on a Wednesday at 1 and we were able to get a seat immediately.
The woman that works there is incredibly friendly. We had not brought enough cash initially before entering the restaurant and she pointed us to an ATM directly down the block near the post office (note that the ATM is very convenient but charges 220 yen per transaction).
The entrance is around the back past a little pond with some goldfish. You have to take off your shoes before entering through the sliding doors. The interior is incredibly well decorated and extremely cozy with tatami flooring and rugs. The temperature was a little warm initially after coming in from the brisk November cold, but our bodies adjusted quickly and felt just right as we sat down. The interior has only 3 different seating areas. Beware, the largest party the restaurant can accommodate is a 5 person party and most of the seating is floor seating aside from 2 chairs. This helps with the cozy and intimate feeling of the restaurant, but may not be suitable for larger parties or those that have mobility/flexibility limitations.
I highly recommend the Special Wagyu set for 2500 yen. It’s not cheap, but it is most definitely worth the money. The portion size is not huge, but for me, it was the perfect amount to not be too full and comfortably satiated. The beef itself is delicious. The wagyu is cooked rare and absolutely melts with a good amount of buttery chewy. There is some wasabi on the side to literally spice things up as you wish as well as a like to help cut through the wagyu fat. The egg is a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg. Finally, the rice is nice and fluffy with green onions to finish it up.
If the Wagyu set is too pricey, or if you’re not interested, there are other options that are absolutely delicious as well like the regular beef dish. Similar portion size, but replaced the wagyu with thinly sliced beef that is well marinated and deliciously sweet-savory.
Finally, the drinks. The Special Wagyu set comes with a little green tea bottle that you use the cap as a tiny cup to take “shots” of hot green tea. Another piece of the experience that adds to the comfort and coziness especially on a cold day. We also opted for the matcha latte that was very creamy with a solid matcha flavor. We thoroughly enjoyed it, but it may be a little on the sweet side if you prefer your matcha lattes to be less sweet.
Definitely do not rush. I would recommend giving at least an hour to enjoy and really savor the experience. The pace is a nice slow pace, not fast food. It seems like the food is made on the spot fresh, so it may take some time.
Overall, it is an amazing experience and I would strongly recommend if you are in the area. This is the epitome of a comfy experience. From food to atmosphere it is perfectly...
Read moreWe would highly recommend getting Wagyu steak bento set as it was really good. The other sets were also delicious too so it would be a hard decision if you go there. We drop by this restaurant for lunch after we explore Kasamatsu Park. It looks like a typical Japanese lunch box style bento, so we were thinking of eating near the beach but the nice lady let us come inside because it was getting pretty hot outside. We did not expect that there was such a cozy tatami room inside. It was really nice and clean. It seems they renovated an old Japanese house but the space was a mixture of classic and modern styles which looked excellent. There was a small pond in the yard and some gold fish were swimming. The bento box was cute and fun because it looked like an Ekiben (train lunch box). We enjoyed the atmosphere and the...
Read moreWe were hungry after taking the boat across to the opposite side of the sandbar and we found this on google maps. I didn’t expect the very traditional homey feel. You walk towards the back in a quant little back area with plants and a tiny pond. You take your shoes off and are greeted by this kind and friendly woman who is both waiter and chef! We sat by the windows and ordered the wagyu grilled sets and they were amazing! They were served in a bento box and it completed the home like feel. Its as if a friend cooked you a fresh meal. The wagyu has a great umami flavor with a smokey/grilled flavor. Topped on rice with daikon radish and what seems like thin shreds of pepper — perfection in such a simple way. We will be...
