My family and I recently traveled to Okinawa and were eager to try some authentic shabu shabu. We found a highly recommended restaurant in town and decided to give it a try. The moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the owner, whose politeness and charm immediately set the tone for the evening.

As the meal began, we were served a variety of fresh ingredients, including thinly sliced meats, fresh vegetables, and a flavorful broth. The quality of the food was exceptional, and we savored every bite. Despite usually having modest appetites, we ended up finishing everything that was served, a testament to how delicious the meal was.

What made the evening even more special was the owner's hospitality. He went out of his way to ensure we had a memorable experience. Our best meal in Okinawa is at Okinawa Shabu-Shabu Specialty Store Jr. Motobu Churami (沖しゃぶ Jr. もとぶ美ら海 店) a hidden gem in Motobu which serves Okinawa Shabu-shabu with wagyu A5 beef 🥩 & premium Agu black pork belly & loin meat 🥓. Agu is the black pig breed native to Okinawa which is much smaller (full size 110kg) than an average modern pig (weigh approx. 200-300kg). The temperature at which its fat melts (fat melting point) is 38.1 degrees which is lower than ordinary pork. Therefore, it literally melts when you put it in your mouth. The premium Agu black pork belly & loin meat served in this place is incredibly delicious, tender & sweet to eat in shabu-shabu style.
