すし 太田 — Restaurant in Nagasaki

WARNING: This place is a SCAM/tourist trap and will rip you off! There is no advertised price list or menu; the chef/owner just starts preparing sushi when you arrive. Having had experience of other Japanese places I naively assumed it would be reasonably priced. Unfortunately the bill was approx. ¥40k for 4 of us, around 2-5 times what you would expect. Even that wasn't enough for the owner as he also ripped us off for another ¥2k when counting the notes (it's cash only, of course). The sushi itself was certainly delicious but the place smelled of smoke, there was no music or other ambiance, and the owner didn't speak much with us. Overall I'd strongly recommend...

Just walked pass and tried. Chef is super friendly and welcoming. Introduced a custom made sushi and all seafood and egg sushi was very fresh and taste excellent. Recommended for a sake and found it is so good. Really worth a worth a visit although the store seemed dodgy outside but don't be afraid to come in. Got ripped off at this place. Do NOT go there unless you are willing to pay $$$$. He tried to hide our money too as we are sorting to split the bill between 4 of us too. He held back a part we had given him without revealing it in the final pay. A VERY dishonest...
