Konohanaya is a charming little café in Tsumago-Juku, offering a wonderful selection of simple Japanese snacks, hot and cold drinks, desserts, and even heartier meals for those looking for something more filling.

After completing our hike, my family and I stopped by for a quick bite, and we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. The beef was incredibly fresh and flavorful, a true delight after a long trek. We also tried the ice mountain dessert, which was the perfect way to cool down and refresh ourselves after the hike.

The experience was made even better by the lovely women running the café. They were so warm and friendly, making us feel genuinely welcomed. It’s the kind of hospitality that turns a simple meal into a memorable part of the trip.

If you’re visiting Tsumago-Juku, this is a fantastic place to take a break and enjoy a meal before continuing your holiday plans. Drop by, enjoy the food, and give them your support! You...

The food is soooo delicious, definitely recommend the shinano salt and pepper beef skewers, perfectly cooked, juicy, tender and seasoned, or there’s plenty for those who are vegetarian/vegan too. We got almost two of everything and became so full, the mitarashi dango was perfect little mochi bites, the shimeji yasai with vegetable filling was exceptional and the gohei mochi is a speciality in this area, a savoury walnut sauce had little crunchy outside where it was grilled which complimented the soft inside, almost like sticky rice. Loved it. Definitely recommend to pair with a beer! The staff were so lovely and sweet to us, a really...

A nice little restaurant with several offerings on stick, such as savory meat or traditional sweets. Of course they had gohei mochi, but I wanted to try the mitarashi dango (みたらし団子), as it’s something I’ve been into recently. The mochi was served warm and was delicious. It was a nice change from the gohei mochi I had been eating, but I want to come back and try it here. The service was fast and friendly and you can eat right outside of...
