尚風亭 — Restaurant in Nago

My husband and I are American and know enough Japanese to understand a little bit. They do have an English menu but not everything they sell is on that menu. Ask for the oysters (Kaki)! They were fresh and delicious! And if you are adventurous, the squid ink saute is amazing, squid pieces bathed in squid ink and green onion slices! The steak was cooked perfectly as well! They served a free appetizer of quail egg wrapped in a dried fish, dont be alarmed, its not a fishy fish, it was quite appetizing! And I am not a person who likes fish that much. It is one of the best izakaya restaurants! If you are in Okinawa, in the nago area, try this place! Staff is all super nice and helpful! Only 1 server knew a little English while we were there but it was enough to help us order. If you know basic Japanese to order food and drinks, it will be a great experience to have! We found this place last minute. I really wanted sushi for dinner on our last day and found this lovely place. The chef/owner seemed extremely charismatic and professional. The prices and food was exceptional and we had such a good time. Staff was so kind to us. We had a 1 year old baby who loves to make lots of baby noises and they were very welcoming. The chef even came to us with snack box for her and because she couldn’t take any of the chocolate he got her some of the bestest softest eggs.
